Twenty-four members of the Christian Women’s Fellowship of the First Christian Church of Independence met Wednesday, the 3rd day of April, with Barbara and Norma hosting the event.
Opening the meeting, Group Leader Norma led the group in the CWF prayer. She then called on Secretary/Treasurer Ernie for the minutes of the March meeting and the current Treasurer’s Report. Correspondence was read, and 16 cards were signed to be mailed to those unable to attend regular meetings.
The committee presented the slate of new officers for the upcoming year, which was approved as follows: Group Leader, Virginia, with Vivian as Co-leader; Secretary/Treasurer, Ernie, with Marsha as Co-treasurer; Correspondence Secretary, Sue; Calling Team, Laura and Luella; Welcome Committee, Wilma and Luella; District/Region Liaison, Norma; Bereavement, Laura, and Director of Least Coin, Minnie.
Plans were finalized for the upcoming Spirit Fest event to be held the 13th of April here at Independence First Christian Church, with women from all of the Southeast Kansas First Christian Churches invited and sponsored by the Christian Women’s Fellowship of Independence.
Phyllis presented the lesson, “Trust and Obey”, taken from various Bible verses. Luella provided the least coin from “Our Daily Bread”, and Virginia gave the devotion, entitled, “His Love”, taken from Jesus Lives.
The annual Mother-Daughter banquet, now known as “Celebration of Women”, will be at 6 PM on Wednesday, May 1st, and will replace the group’s May monthly meeting. This will be a salad dinner with fried chicken provided by the Christian Women’s Fellowship and salads by the attendees. Mothers, daughters and friends are invited.
Judy closed the meeting with a prayer for the ill, followed by the group with the Fellowship Benediction. As a group, the women adjourned to the Chapel for the weekly Lenten Service and then to the Fellowship Hall for the soup luncheon provided by Virginia.
