CWF Corner

The Christian Women’s Fellowship of the First Christian Church of Independence met Wednesday, March 7th, with 21 members in attendance.  Hosting the St. Patrick’s Day-themed meeting were Virginia and Laura.  Group Leader Norma opened the meeting with the CWF prayer and then called for reading of the Minutes and Treasurer’s Report from Secretary/Treasurer, Ernie.

Eighteen cards were signed to mail to those unable to attend, and the group was reminded to save their UPC Codes from Best Choice labels.  Business for the meeting centered around the upcoming Mother/Daughter Banquet, to be held May 2nd.  This will be a salad dinner with fried chicken and dessert.  Phyllis will provide special music, along with a singalong.  The theme and décor for the event will be vintage.  All women of the church are invited to attend, along with mother, daughter or friend.

The lesson was presented by Judy and entitled, “Symbols of Easter”, followed by the devotion, “Jesus is Calling” from Mary.  Linda brought the least coin, entitled, “Constant and Continual” from Daily Wisdom for Women.

The group will meet again on Wednesday, April 4th, in the Church Parlor, with the lesson from Virginia, devotion from Connie, and least coin from Laura.

After being dismissed in prayer, the group moved to the Bearden Chapel to attend the weekly Lenten Prayer Service, led by Jim and Phyllis and followed by a soup and dessert luncheon provided by Connie and Sandra.

All women and friends of the church are invited to attend.
