CWF Corner

The Christian Women’s Fellowship of the First Christian Church met Wednesday, January 3rd, with 18 in attendance and was hosted by Marsha and Ethel.  Group Leader, Norma, led the group in the opening prayer and then called for the reading of the Minutes and Treasurer’s Report, provided by Secretary/Treasurer, Ernie.

Letters of thanks and appreciation for our donations were read from the Independence Middle School and the Food Service Department of Independence Schools.  Reports were given by group members who delivered the “Christmas cookie bags” to 16 recipients.  Cards were signed for 17 members and friends unable to attend today’s meeting.  The group was reminded that this Sunday will be “Fellowship Sunday”, and it is the CWF’s turn to provide the cookies for the event.

A donation to the church was approved in the amount of $1,000 to assist with the higher heating costs, due to the colder weather.

The lesson, “Thoughts from Andy Rooney”, was given by Marsha.  Ethel gave the devotion, “Let’s Finish the Race” from the 2016 Olympics, and Laura had the least coin entitled, “Choosing Joy is a Choice.”

The group will meet Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. in the Church Parlor with Wilma and Linda hosting, Virginia providing the least coin, and Laura the devotion.  All women are encouraged to attend.  The group dismissed with the CWF prayer.
