We were blessed by the attendance of more than 300 people at the Botts Family Christmas celebration on Sunday, December 17, and more than $1,000 was received in donations to go to the Independence Community Food Basket. Thank you to all volunteers.
The 2017 Bright Christmas was a special celebration for 14 families and more than 30 kids! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this event a success again this year.
Christmas Eve Candlelight Service: Sunday, December 24, at 5 pm in the Sanctuary. If you would like a ride to the service, please call the Church Office by Friday, December 22.
The Church Office will be closed: Monday, December 25 and Monday, January 1, and will be closed in the afternoon December 26 thru December 31.
Open Arms Diner Closed: Tuesday, December 26 and Tuesday, January 2.
December 31st is 5th Sunday. The Worship Service will be casual, and a special offering for the Independence Food Basket will be collected. Following Sunday School, sweet treats and other finger foods will be served in the Fellowship Hall in lieu of the usual potluck meal. If you would like to participate, please bring a snack or treat to share.
New Sunday School Class: Pastor Mark will be leading a third Sunday School class, set to begin in January 2018. More details will follow.

Breakfast in the Fellowship Hall: Sunday, January 7, at 8 am. Coffee and juice are also provided.
January 7 is Fellowship Sunday. The CWF ladies will host Cookie Fellowship after the Worship Service.
Spaghetti Dinner: The youth will host a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser on Sunday, January 7, at 11:30 am in the Fellowship Hall. All proceeds will go toward 2018 youth activities.

Removal of the Greens: Christmas decorations will be taken down on Saturday, January 13, beginning at 9 am. All hands are welcome and appreciated.

Installation of 2018 Church Officers: Sunday, January 14, during the Worship Service.

Chocolate Auction: The youth will host the annual Chocolate Auction on Sunday, February 11, at 11:30 am in the Fellowship Hall. All proceeds will go toward 2018 youth activities.
Mittens and Hats: The Mitten Tree is located in the Fellowship Hall. Please help decorate it with new mittens, hats and scarves for those in need this winter.
Bargain Trip Excursions for 2018 are being planned, and your ideas are needed. If you have any suggestions regarding day trips you would like to make, please contact the Church Office.
Host Families Needed: Independence Community College (ICC) is hoping to compile a database of host families willing to sponsor students the first semester (January – May) and the fall semester (August – December) of each school year. Students will be responsible for their own housing during the summer months. If you are interested, please contact Andrea at ICC.
