The Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF) of the First Christian Church met Wednesday, December 6th, with Virginia and Judy hosting and Laura and Norma assisting.
The meeting was opened with prayer by Shirley, followed by a soup luncheon for the 27 attending members. Soups were provided by Connie, Vivian, Minnie, Barbara and Virginia.
Group Leader, Norma, opened the business meeting with prayer and then called for the reading of the Minutes and Treasurer’s Report from Secretary/Treasurer, Ernie. A short business meeting followed to discuss upcoming events and end-of-the-year business.
Virginia presented the group with a check in the amount of $120, received from Associated Grocers for our Best Choice UPC labels. End-of-the-year Blessing Box funds were collected while Judy gave the blessing over them. Christmas cards were signed to mail to 19 members who were unable to be with us today.
It was approved to send $100 to the “Jerry Bright” Christmas party fund; $500 to the Independence High School lunch fund and $500 to the Independence Middle School for distribution to students and families in need of some holiday assistance. Church member and teacher, Jessica, has been our liaison in this program for a few years. Also approved was a gift to our church secretary, for her continued dedication to CWF and to our church.
The lesson was brought by Ernie, entitled, “The Mysterious Magi,” from Matthew. Devotions were provided by Marsha from “The Greatest Xmas Present”, and the Least Coin by Virginia from “Dreams of Angels.” A short musical program was presented by Phyllis, ending with a sing-a-long Christmas carol.
The meeting ended with a white elephant gift exchange and a reminder of our next meeting on January 3, 2018 at 9:30 AM in the Parlor, hosted by Marsha and Ethel, with the lesson by Marsha, devotion by Ethel, and least coin by Laura. We dismissed with the CWF Prayer.
