Westward Ho

Not too long ago, Laura and I decided we would take a fried chicken lunch and head west to visit a couple from the Future Planners Sunday school class who were no longer able to attend church.  Sound easy?  Guess again.

Getting their address was no problem; however, finding the place was another matter… Lee and I had tried to find them a few years ago and got lost, but I think Lee and Ed eventually did find them at one time.  So, we contacted their daughter and her husband, and he sent us the exact roads to take… including what he called “the dirt roads.”  Taking off straight through Elk City, we followed his perfect directions and, thankfully, we made it.

After our lunch and a wonderful visit with our friends, Benny and Anna Marie, we started home…  Just coming out of the lane from their house, my navigator, Laura, said to take a left. We “argued” about that for a while, and I took a right.  Traveling on for a couple of miles on the dirt roads, we came to a huge pile of dirt alongside the road, so I said, “See, this is the big pile of dirt we passed coming over here.”

She replied with, “I never saw the dump truck load of dirt coming over here.”

Well, we made it home in good shape, but I learned one thing…  Don’t take Laura as your navigator…
