Eighteen members of the Christian Women’s Fellowship of the First Christian Church met Wednesday, February 1st, with Judy Jewers and LaDella Lyon hosting the event.
Group Leader Norma Babb opened the meeting, leading the group in prayer and then calling for the Minutes and Treasurer’s Report from the January meeting. A short business meeting was held, updating the programs and activities on the coming agenda.
Notes of thanks were read from the Independence Middle School and the Church Secretary. Virginia Housel, Correspondence Secretary, presented 16 cards for signing, and these will be mailed to members unable to attend today’s meeting. She also noted that we are in need of “Thinking of You” cards, or nice blank cards. See Virginia if you have extras.
The Valentine-themed lesson, entitled “Getting Along with Others in Love” was presented by Shirley Padley. Ernie Cain gave the devotion from Chicken Soup for the Soul, and Linda Hatfield brought the least coin with “Sky High Love.” By request, Marsha King recited the poem, “The Lost Penney.”
Closing with the CWF prayer, we were reminded that our next meeting is scheduled for March 1, 2017 at 9:30 AM in the Church Parlor with Virginia Housel and Laura Sullivan hosting. Judy Jewers will bring the lesson, Mary Sherwin the devotion, and Luella Lovelace the least coin.
