Scout Sunday

This week is Scout Sunday.  We are honored to have the Boy Scouts from Troop 4 lead our worship this Sunday.

As many of you already know, the 3 promises of the Scout Oath are:

  • Duty to God and to Country
  • Duty to Helping and Serving Other People
  • Duty to Self

Since its origin, the scouting program has always combined educational opportunities by upholding proper moral character and offering outstanding values.  In fact, the scouts strive to fulfill the 12 points of Scout Law throughout their service.  Those laws include trustworthiness, loyalty, helpfulness, friendliness, courteousness, kindness, obedience, cheerfulness, thriftiness, bravery, cleanliness and reverence.

As you can see, many of the scouting principals parallel many of the truths of the Bible.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.  And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. (James 3:17-18)

Let us show our support for the scouts by attending this special worship service this Sunday.
