CWF Corner

Twenty members of the Christian Women’s Fellowship of the First Christian Church met Wednesday, the 2nd of November, with Norma Babb and Virginia Housel hosting.  Group Leader Babb led us in our opening prayer.

Minutes of the October meeting and the Treasurer’s Report were read by Ernie Cain, with approval of same.

We voted to send a one-time $200.00 offering to the Church State Women’s CWF in Topeka, Kansas.  Our Blessing Boxes are to be turned in next month and will be given to Jessica Goza at the Junior High School for distribution to students and families in need of assistance.  This has been a wonderful program and much needed.

December 4th will be the all-church Tasting Tea, and all CWF members are asked to participate in the tea by bringing their own specialty Christmas goodies for the event.

For our upcoming meeting, the members and guests of the CWF will have a soup luncheon on the 7th of December with 5 different kinds of soup being offered.  Soups will be provided by Virginia Housel, LaDella Lyon, Minnie Sumner, Connie Tucker and Marsha King.  Also planned for this event will be a white elephant, beautifully wrapped gift exchange.

Thanksgiving cards were signed for 15 shut ins and those unable to attend the meetings.

The lesson was led by Wilma Andrews and entitled, “Half Boy and Half Man, Soldier Boys” in honor of Veterans Day, November 11th.  Devotions from Judy Jewers were entitled, “Some Things are Worth Fighting For”, and the least coin was given by Virginia Housel and entitled, “A Thankful Heart”.

As mentioned above, the December meeting will be held on December 7th in the Fellowship Hall at 11:30 AM and will be the soup luncheon.  Hosting the event will be Ethel Landis and Laura Sullivan with devotions by Laura.

The meeting closed with the CWF prayer, recited in unison.
