Life In My World

Over the past several years, I have written about being one of 46 first cousins on my mother’s side.  What a life we have had!  With the passing of years, we are down to 22 and, yet, we continue to celebrate our family ties as we have always done.  We have what we call “Cousins’ Wednesdays” where we meet each Wednesday for breakfast at a Chanute restaurant, with 12 to 15 attending.

Then on special occasions, we carpool to the Kansas City area on Thursdays to meet at Mrs. B’s Family Restaurant for all the fried chicken we can eat.  Such was our Thursday a couple of weeks ago, with 18 attending.  We felt like celebrities with our reserved tables set up and other diners clapping as we entered… They kind of knew we were coming.

What a blessing it has been for all of us to have grown up in rural communities where church and church families were always an important part of our lives.  As I look around our church here at 10th and Laurel each Sunday, I give thanks to our Lord that we here in our church also have those church and family ties with each other.

We are so blessed!
