We, at First Christian Church, Independence, would like to welcome our new Pastor, Mark Lyon, and his wife, LaDella. They come to Independence by way of First Christian Church of Haysville, Kansas, where they served 3 years in ministry. Prior to that, they served more than 7 years at Community Christian Church in Ponca City.
Both Mark and LaDella are originally from Oklahoma. Mark was born and raised in the Tulsa area, while LaDella is originally from Blackwell. They have 4 grown children, ranging in age from 22 to 26 years.
Mark has been involved with youth as well as adult ministry most of his life. Throughout his high school and college years, he was heavily involved with many evangelistic ministries such as Young Life, Campus Crusades and Fellowship of Christian Athletics. After serving almost 10 years in youth ministry, Mark eventually enrolled in and graduated from Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, Oklahoma and began serving in fulltime ministry.
Mark and LaDella are very excited to be at First Christian Church, Independence, and they look forward to serving the church and community. Both individuals bring a variety of gifts and talents in service to the Lord, from insightful and meaningful worship experiences to drama, puppets and skits to help highlight the message of the day. They look forward to meeting the good people of Independence and hope to continue being a blessing to others, as they feel that God has already been a blessing to them.
