Mysteries from Ages Ago

I understand the Martha’s are at it again… They said they were cleaning the Future Planner’s classroom when they accidentally found a secret drawer in some piece of furniture.  Sounded kind of like a mystery novel to me, but I guess they did find some ancient pictures somewhere in the room, pictures of the Future Planners taken long ago while we were preparing chili for one of our famous chili suppers, and other pictures of members long gone.  Good memories were revived.

Then our attention was called to the cross that had been setting in the classroom for many years.  We believe it had originally been in the Homebuilders Class.  Well, there’s quite a history behind that cross.  It sat right out in the open, right under our noses for many years, and we never really “noticed” it until the incoming new minister and his wife were taking a tour of the church and questions were asked about the cross.

Hidden out of sight and on the underneath side of the base of the cross, the mystery was solved.  The cross was made by Tom Jewers back in 1962 as a special project in Boy Scouts for his God and Country Award and under the direction of Reverend Jack Barron.

Just knowing the background of the cross makes it something very special, and it is a beautiful cross so, as a class, we invite you to stop in and check it out.  Our class begins at 10:40 AM every Sunday morning and you are welcome.
