The Christian Women’s Fellowship of the Independence First Christian Church met Wednesday, the 4th of March, with Vivian hosting the 18 members in attendance. Group Leader, Virginia, led the group in the opening prayer, followed by Ernie presenting the Secretary and Treasurer’s reports from January.
Cards were signed for 15 members unable to attend today’s meeting. Correspondence Secretary, Sue, reported she had also mailed 16 Valentines in February when our meeting had been canceled due to the weather. Norma reported on the 14 cookie bags and visitations made to various church members residing in nursing homes. This will be an ongoing program of the Christian Women’s Fellowship with Easter time being the next cookie bag visitation scheduled.
The group was reminded that Spirit Fest is April 18th, and those planning to attend need to sign up for rides and attendance to Ark City.
Darlene has been named Chairman of the Mother/Daughter Banquet and will be asking for volunteers to assist with the program and decorations for the May 6, 2020 event. This being a well attended banquet, a signup sheet will be available for members and guests planning to attend.
After many dedicated years as the Bereavement Chairman of the Christian Women’s Fellowship, Laura submitted her resignation from this very responsible position. Co-Chairmen of this position will be filled by Virginia and Norma.
Wilma brought the lesson from 2nd Timothy, and the least coin from “365 Devotions”. Virginia had a Guidepost lesson entitled, “Mysterious Ways”.
Closing with prayer, the group was reminded of the April 1st meeting in the Church Parlor at 9:30 AM, with Norma and Virginia hosting, Darlene with the lesson, the least coin by Laura and devotions by Virginia.
Following the meeting, the group adjourned to the Chapel for the weekly Lenten service and then to the Fellowship Hall for the soup luncheon.
