The Christian Women’s Fellowship of the Independence First Christian Church met Wednesday, December 4th, with Phyllis and Linda serving as hostesses, assisted by Darlene.
Group leader Virginia led the 24 attendees in opening with the CWF prayer. She then called for Secretary/Treasurer Ernie to provide the Minutes and Treasurer’s Report from the November Meeting; both were approved as read. Also approved by vote was the motion to make a Christmas appreciation gift to the Church Secretary, Custodian and Minister.
Christmas cards were signed by each attendee for 15 members who are unable to attend regular meetings. Best Choice labels were collected, and the least coin funds were turned in.
Judy gave the prayer for the yearlong giving of the Blessing Boxes. A check in the amount of $500 for the Independence Middle School to assist students in need of clothing and other items is to be presented to teacher Jessica Sunday, as she is our liaison with the school.
Phyllis presented the lesson from a 1946 “Bible Story Book” and concluded the lesson with singing “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”. Devotions by Laura were from Luke and entitled, “Leaving Jesus at the Church”, and Luella gave the least coin from “Love out Loud”.
Shirley gave the prayer prior to the soup luncheon with soups being provided by Connie, Phyllis, Virginia and Norma and desserts and finger foods provided by others.
Judy led the group in the white elephant gift exchange with complicated Christmas questions one had to answer prior to receiving a gift.
The group dismissed in prayer with a reminder of the January 8 meeting in the Church Parlor. Virginia will bring the lesson; Marsha will have devotions and Phyllis the least coin.
