Thirty-three members of the Christian Women’s Fellowship of the First Christian Church of Independence met Wednesday, the 5th of December, with Ethel  and Judy hosting.

The opening prayer was given by Shirley, followed by a Noon soup luncheon provided by Sue, Connie, Phyllis, Virginia and Judy.

Group leader, Norma, called for the Treasurer’s Report, incoming mail and approval for monetary gifts of appreciation to the Church Secretary, Janitor and Pastor.  Christmas cards were signed for 22 homebound members and those unable to attend today’s meeting.

Sara, pianist, and Phyllis, song leader, led the group in a singalong of several Christmas carols prior to the “white elephant” gift exchange.

The year-long blessing box funds were collected and will be donated to the Independence Middle School for assistance to students and families and providing for those who need help during the year or at this holiday time.

Devotions were given by Judy from “Happy Moments with God.”  Virginia gave the least coin with “The Real Jesus,” taken from The Independence Daily Reporter.

The group will meet again on Wednesday, January 2nd, at 9:30 AM in the Church Parlor.  Lu and Ernie will be hosting.  Ethel will bring the lesson, Minnie the devotions, and Phyllis the least coin.

The group dismissed in prayer and were reminded that all women of the church – and guests – are welcome to attend.
