The Christian Women’s Fellowship of the First Christian Church of Independence met Wednesday, the 5th of September, with 29 members and friends in attendance. Hosting the salad and fried chicken dinner were Norma and Mary, with Shirley bringing the luncheon prayer, and table decorations by Sue.
Minutes of the June meeting and Treasurer’s report were read by Secretary/Treasurer Ernie and approved as presented. A singalong with song leader Phyllis was the program, done with enthusiasm and thoughts of love. Cards were signed for 18 members unable to attend. Guests introduced were Sara, Karen, Kathy, Mina and Barbara.
Norma, group leader, led the discussion regarding upcoming events, and as a group, we approved hosting the SE Kansas Outreach Program here in Independence on Saturday, April 13, 2019. Also approved was the donation of $1,000 to the First Christian Church for assistance with ongoing and rising costs.
The group was reminded to turn in their “Best Choice” labels, which will soon be sent in, noting that this is a good fundraiser for the group.
The lesson, given by Wilma, was entitled, “Wisdom of our Fathers” . Devotions were provided by Virginia from 1st Peter and entitled, “The Blessing of Loving Others”. Joyce gave the least coin.
The group was dismissed in prayer and reminded that the next meeting will be October 3, 2018 at 9:30 am in the Parlor with Sue and Minnie hosting, Judy giving the lesson, Lu devotions and Connie the least coin.
