Green Chalice Living

Why Eat Local?

Supporting local farmers gives a livelihood to people in your community and ensures that those who put in the effort to grow our food are supported by the communities they love.  In addition to economy, it is important to the environment that we grow food locally.  The average meal travels 1,500 miles from farm to plate, and much of the food we eat undergoes extensive processing, which reduces nutrients and increases the amount of energy that goes into a product and the waste that comes out of a process.  Eating local means strong communities, healthier food, reduced waste and a smaller carbon footprint.  Please consider where your food is coming from or have fun outside growing some of your own.
