The Christian Women’s Fellowship of the Independence First Christian Church hosted the annual Mother/Daughter Banquet Wednesday, the 2nd of May, with a salad supper. Mothers and friends of mothers were acknowledged and welcomed by group leader, Norma, followed by a brief history of the goals and programs of the Christian Women’s Fellowship group.
Blessing of the food was brought by Luella, with dinner following. Phyllis sang songs of yesterday and then led the group in a sing-a-long, followed by Wilma’s poetry reading of “The Clothes Line”, Marsha’s reading of “My Everything Mom” and Virginia’s reading of “A Mother’s Love.”
The memorabilia table, prepared by Sue, was filled with memory items from our mothers and grandmothers, long-ago items remembered with love. Lovely homegrown flower arrangements by Sue decorated the ten guest-filled tables.
Trying to beat the storm coming in, the group dismissed in prayer with a reminder of the June 6th luncheon and fellowship meeting, to be held at Norma’s home.
