Memorial Day

Memorial Day is the time for Americans to reconnect with our history and with our core values by honoring those who gave their lives for the ideals we cherish.

Last week, we honored all the FCC saints who dedicated their lives to being Disciples for Christ.

More than a million American service members have died in the wars and conflicts this nation has fought since the first colonial soldiers took up arms in 1775 to fight for independence.  Each person who died during those conflicts was a loved one, cherished by family and friends.  Each was a loss to the community and the nation.

We have lost thousands of Disciples over the years who volunteered their time, their efforts and their abundance in helping FCC be a beacon of hope and light to the community of Independence, Kansas.

As we remember and memorialize all those saints and all those soldiers who have gone on before us, who fought so bravely and gave of their lives for the freedoms of our country and for the freedoms of expressing our faith openly and unencumbered, let us continue to honor and support these faithful servants as we recognize all the great values and virtues that these past saints and soldiers gave us.

Help us continue to be a blessing to others, as the Lord has already been a blessing to us.
