Hello to all of you from Jessica Goza!
As the end of my 3-year term as an Elder draws to a close, I think and reflect upon my experiences as an Elder.
When I first told my family I was going to be serving as an Elder, my middle son, Trevor, age 7 at the time, said to me, “But, Momma, you’re not old!” I laugh every time I think of this memory.
I remember being so nervous about participating at the Communion Table for the first time. The week before I was to serve, I closely watched the Elders so that I would be ready to serve at the Table correctly. I prayed that God would give me the words I needed to pray while at the Table. After serving as an Elder at the Communion Table several times now, I do not get nervous anymore. However, there is a feeling of awe and excited anticipation. Each experience is special, and I am honored to be a part of it.
My favorite memory as an Elder was serving Communion to the shut-ins with Vicki Gordon. We visited Helen Belt – she is such a sweet lady. That was an amazing visit, and I will cherish that memory for years to come.
Blessings,
Jessica Goza
