Beans Anyone?

Coming up, this Sunday (October 30th), we are having an “old fashioned” Sunday service with old fashioned preaching and old fashioned food.  Some of us have been asked to bring some kind of a bean dish to go with the old fashioned dinner.

Well, I could not help but remember a few years back when Laura and I were asked to cook ham and beans for the CUFF dinner at the Episcopal Church.  Of course, we could do that and purchased 14 pounds of pinto beans, along with the necessary ham and onions.  After cleaning the beans, we put them to soak in two electric roasters overnight, and upon our return in the morning, we found the two roasters had swollen to 3 roasters.  There was no doubt we had more than enough  beans to feed the diners at the CUFF dinner, and they sure were good.

So, if you are one of the bean cookers for the old fashioned dinner, you might want to remember – a few beans go a long way.  I’m happy to say that I have been asked to bring a fruit pie.
